Hayley Birch is a former journalist, editor, illustrator, publisher and distributor for her junior school newspaper. She grew up in the Cotswolds with a dream of becoming a writer. That dream was briefly forgotten during a science degree and a spell in an experimental cardiology lab. She works in a studio in “the achingly cool” (the Guardian) part of Bristol, where she writes on biology, chemistry and the environment. She is an average runner and a terrible saucier.
